A Number of Injured as Rough Air Hits Delta Plane into Sydney
A number of individuals sustained injuries when a Delta jet from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia was hit by rough air Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson stated. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service stated they treated a total of five people, and transferred a trio to the hospital with minor injuries that comprised back pain and headaches. The injured were between their 30s to 70s.
It is the most recent case of aircraft being hit by severe turbulence, with experts indicating that global warming is a key driver.
On board were 245 passengers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the representative added, clarifying that the plane touched down "safely" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday.
