Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the incident left him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
