Around twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland woke up without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.

Large Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Homeowners reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victoria's Climate Difficulties

Simultaneously, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

• Werribee region - experienced considerable weather impact
• Hoppers Crossing - various assistance requests
• Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance

At the height on the previous day, more than 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both regions.

Health Warning

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.

This caution comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
